How To Protect Your Dog From Kennel Cough

When it's not possible to take your four-legged friend with you, it's important to look for a safe, reputable location to board them for the duration of your journey. The key is finidng a kennel which is clean and secure. Trips are much more enjoyable when the health of a pet is certain, so taking the time to prevent kennel cough is very important.

What is kennel cough?
Kennel cough is a kind of upper respiratory infection that affects dogs. It's caused by a common type of bacteria, and is highly contagious – the name comes from the ease with which the disorder is spread among animals kept in close quarters. A dog afflicted with kennel cough will sneeze, vomit, and perhaps even have a fever. It can last two to three weeks at a time, and resurface relatively easily; although kennel cough isn't usually life threatening, very old dogs and young pups are more at risk of complications than animals in the prime of their life.

Can it be vaccinated against?
A vaccination does exist for kennel cough, but keep this in mind: much like a common cold for humans, there are multiple strains of kennel cough. So many, in fact, that it's impossible to vaccinate against them. So while a pup can be vaccinated, it might work only for one type of kennel cough, but not all.

What can be done to protect against it?
The best way to protect an animal against kennel cough is to find a reputable, clean location to board them at. There are a few key features to look at when it comes to kennels:
  1. They're clean. A kennel which doesn't clean up after animals is one in which bacteria and disease can easily spread.
  1. They have a veterinarian on call. In the event of a medical emergency, the kennel should be able to reach a vet who can treat your animal and keep them safe.
  1. The kennel should have certain standards. Kennels which allow any sort of animal to board there are more at risk for the spread of disease; if they require that animals have certain vaccinations before boarding, it lessens the chance that another animal might pick up on the bacteria.
  1. They monitor the animals. A kennel which prevents animals from interacting with one another when there are clear signs of aggression or disease is one that can be trusted. Kennel cough is spread not only through dirty floors, but also through air and saliva, much like a human cold might be.
If an animal begins to show signs of kennel cough, think twice before boarding them with others. Not only is it irresponsible, but it encourages the spread of disease. A dog who suffers from kennel cough will have a weakened immune system and be more susceptible to problems than one who is healthy and hale.
Another thing to keep in mind is the potential for canine distemper. This disease is equally as contagious, but unlike kennel cough, is highly dangerous. Animals that survive canine distemper will suffer from lasting damage, including quick erosion of the teeth and poor eyesight. The initial symptoms of canine distemper are similar to those of kennel cough, so if an animal shows symptoms, it is a good idea to have them examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible.

Are there cost-effective alternatives?
A type of medicine known as a nosode, which is made from the disease itself, can be very effective at treating kennel cough and even preventing it. This type of medication can be obtained affordably from numerous animal care stores and vet clinics. Speak with a local veterinarian for more information.
When it comes to kennel cough, it's better to be safe than sorry. Although the disorder is not life threatening, it can cause a lot of discomfort for an animal, and no one wants to see a beloved pet go through that. Take the time and properly research any kennel before boarding an animal there, and make sure the pooch is in good health before entrusting it to the care of others.

Aly Sweet recently went to board her dog and wants to make sure everyone is making the right decision when boarding their pet.

MY THOUGHTS

I have tried a few similar products in the past and but for the last 2 cold gel jars I have bought actually were Deep Relief Ice Cold Pain Relief Gel.  I don't need this product very often (maybe once or twice per month) and personally i find it works great and it works quickly. I really like that I just rub it on my knees and I don't have to worry about it ruining my pants because it won't stain my clothes so I don't have to wait for it to dry completely.

Here is a list of where you can purchase this product .

I highly recommed this product.

You can follow Deep Relief on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Teen Wolf Season 3 Part 2

The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.

While Scott struggles to find his place as an Alpha, he, Allison and Stiles begin to experience
strange side effects as a result of re-igniting the power within Beacon Hills. They soon discover
that the answer to their problems may be found in a new student named Kira, a girl with
remarkable powers of her own. The series is a co-production with, and distributed by, MGM, in adssociation with Los Marbles Productions, Inc., First Cause, Inc. and DiGa.

MY THOUGHTS

I have watched and reviewed seasons 1 and 2 of Teen Wolf but Ihave not watched season 3 part 1. I don't watch the show on tv or anything and only times I ever got to watch the show was to review. Unfortunately I never received part 1 of season 3 so when I watched part 2 I was very confused as what what happened because I missed some good episodes.

I don't know about you but I hate when companies put out parts of a season on DVD and then other parts at a later date on DVD. I find it is a waste of packaging and it is a waste of money and a big pain to those who likes a show and love to marathon all the episode before the new season starts. This is a big pet peeve of mine.

Anyway, even though I was a little confused because I had not watch the first part of the season I actually really enjoyed this. There was lots of action and the story was fantastic. This is one of those shows where once an episode is over you just can't wait to watch the next episode.

I highly recommend Teen Wolf . All the season have been great but really wish the dvd porduction company would have just released the entire season 3 in one box and not have to buy them in parts.

I give the show 5 out of 5.

Softlips Lip Moisturizer in French Vanilla Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I have recently received the Softlips Lip Moisturizer in French Vanilla and I was so happy to review this because these days my lips have been chapped. I guess it comes from having a horrible and long winter.

Anyway I have been putting some of this lip moisturizer on when ever I needed it and I have to say I am pretty impressed. I love the smell and it doesn't leave my lips oily.

Mentholatum Softlips® Lip Moisturizer contains Vitamin E which relieves chapped lips and helps keep them looking soft and healthy and it  contains SPF 20.  It is lightweight , skinny and it is water resistant. They are gluten free and cruelty free. There are a few other tastes.

Check out Softlips' website to see what they have.  This is now my new favourite lip balm and I can't wait to try other flavours.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Wes Anderson’s Troupe of Unforgettable Characters

Part of what makes Wes Anderson’s films so iconic is his recurring troupe of talented actors in unforgettable roles and cameos. This gallery takes a look at the actors Anderson can’t stay away from and the roles that defined their collaboration.
Bill Murray
The iconic actor is a strong supporter of Wes Anderson’s works and has appeared in most of his movies starting their amazing relationship with Rushmore. For Rushmore, where Murray portrayed a wealthy industrialist, Anderson revealed to have paid the actor the bare minimum allowed by the Screen Actors Guild ($9,000). Bill Murray has admitted that the part of Steve Zissou in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou was one of the hardest roles he’s ever played and that the main reason he did it was because Wes Anderson was helming it. I’m sure we can all agree that that decision contributed to the cementation of their future collaborations.

Tilda Swinton
Tilda Swinton arrived relatively late to the Wes Anderson game but has appeared in his last two consecutive films in very different roles. In Moonrise Kingdom, which has become the movie that defined her collaboration with Anderson, she played Social Services while in The Grand Budapest Hotel she underwent a major transformation to become an elderly woman who ultimately succumbs to her evil son’s antics.

Adrien Brody
Speaking of Tilda Swinton’s evil son in The Grand Budapest Hotel, Adrien Brody has appeared in three Anderson films: The Darjeeling Limited, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and The Grand Budapest Hotel. As part of the Whitmans in Darjeeling, Brody was able to seamlessly implant himself into a project that was so comfortably arranged (both Schwartzman and Owen Wilson had worked with Anderson before). This volatile threesome became inseparable enough that it was hard to imagine the fake brothers to not be a package deal in the movies that followed.

Owen Wilson
Starting this list off is Owen Wilson who was been in seven of Anderson’s eight films. From Bottle Rocket to Fantastic Mr. Fox and the newest The Grand Budapest Hotel, Anderson’s audiences can assume that Wilson is one of his closest colleagues. In fact, Anderson first met the actor at the University of Texas in Austin where they immediately became friends. Wilson’s defining role is, arguably, that of Eli Cash in The Royal Tenenbaums. This part brought out Owen Wilson’s unmistakable wit, which seems to be lost amongst some of his most uncouth movies.

Anjelica Huston
Huston’s roles in Wes Anderson films usually feature her as the matriarch of a quirky family. Along with Bill Murray, Anjelica Huston is one of the seasoned veterans heading Anderson’s great cast of characters. She played part in three of his movies starting with The Royal Tenenbaums where she perfectly captured his vision for the role. We haven’t seen her in Anderson’s latest films, but she is sure to make an appearance in his future works.

Jason Schwartzman
The role of Max Fischer in Rushmore was the one that defined Jason Schwartzman’s collaboration with Wes Anderson and his acting career in general. When he auditioned for the part, Schwartzman was 17 and dreamed of being a writer, not an actor. Almost ten years after Rushmore, he co-wrote the script for The Darjeeling Limited and has been in every Anderson film since.

Luke Wilson
Aside from helping Owen Wilson express his great comedic timing, another certain Wes Anderson movie also helped launch the successful career of Owen’s brother Luke. Luke Wilson co-starred in Bottle Rocket and then went on to participate in a slew of Hollywood films that now make up his long roster of accomplishments. Wilson collaborated with Anderson in some of his other movies such as Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums.

Joy Ride 3 On Blu-Ray Giveaway

“Killer Rides”
Joy Ride 3

Rusty Nail is back to his old, truck-driving and murdering ways in the upcoming Joy Ride 3: Roadkill, available on Blu-ray and DVD June 17th. In celebration of Rusty’s return, we’re talking a look at some of the most “killer rides” to appear in horror films. If the headlights of one of these rides pull up behind you, don’t say you weren’t warned!

Rusty’s Big Rig from Joy Ride
Throughout the Joy Ride films, people seem to think messing with truckers over the CB radio is a good idea. While this may seem like fun on a long road trip, messing with guys who drive 10-ton behemoths probably isn’t the brightest of ideas. Rusty uses his truck to intimidate and chase after his victims, as well as occasionally murder them with it.

1958 Plymouth Fury from Christine
When Arnie purchased Christine, a beat-up Plymouth that he wanted to restore, he thought he had finally found a hobby that would allow him to escape from his personal troubles. Little did he know, the evil car had a mind of it’s own that would come to influence and control him. The car kills numerous people, and eventually leads to Arnie’s demise in the cult horror hit.

1941 Chevrolet COE from Jeepers Creepers
Perhaps one of the most terrifying vehicles all of film, the Chevy COE serves as the perfect ride for the flesh-eating creature that is after Darry and Trish Jenner in the 2001 horror classic. The vehicle has a ton of storage for all of the bodies of the creatures’ victims, as well as a super-charged engine that allows him to chase down anyone he wants. This rust colored beast isn’t easy to miss on the road - Just hope it doesn’t run you off of it!

1971 Chevy Nova and 1969 Dodge Charger from Death Proof
Stuntman Mike (Kurt Russell) uses his cars as his murder weapons in one of the entries in Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez’s horror feature, known as Grindhouse. The film features some of the most gruesome, over-the-top car crash deaths in movie history. You better stay out of this deranged stuntman’s way!

1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 from Army Of Darkness

Burt Reynolds Oldsmobile from Army Of Darkness is the only vehicle on this list not driven by one of the “bad guys” in the film. Instead, it’s featured because it’s so iconic to the Evil Dead franchise, and because it’s transformed into an awesome, evil-fighting supercar in 1993’s Army Of Darkness. One interesting note, the contents in the trunk of the car that were seen in the film were actually items Sam Raimi had stored in the car, not product placement. Some of the items included shotgun shells, a hand saw, lots of rope, a gas tank, and a Chemistry 101 book by Bernard Garnell.

MY THOUGHTS

I wasn't expecting on liking this movie but I was pleasantly surprised.  I don't watch many romantic comedy because I am picky when it comes to this genre because they are all predictable.  This movie was predictable but it was really funny and I thought it was well written with good acting. It did keep me watching and I think I just might be watching this movie again at some point in the future.

I highly recommend Kissing Jessica Stein

I give this 4 out of 5

Pressured by a greedy uncle (Brian Cox) and a pile of debt, lovable loser Steve Barker (Knoxville) resorts to an unthinkable, contemptible, just-crazy-enough-to-work scheme. He pretends to be mentally challenged to rig the upcoming Special Olympics and bring home the gold. But when Steve's fellow competitors get wise to the con, they inspire him to rise to the greatest challenge of all: becoming a better person.

Produced by the fearless Farrelly Brothers (There's Something About Mary, Shallow Hal), The Ringer will keep you smiling all the way to the finish line!

  • Barbanell and John Taylor
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Let The Games Begin: A Look at The Ringer
  • Theatrical Trailer

MY THOUGHTS

I didn't really find this funny. Sure there were a few parts that got a few giggles out of me but it wasn't really a laugh out loud kind of movie. Also it is predictable but it wasn't completely boring like some comedies I have watched lately. I did keep watching because the storyline wasn't so bad so it wasn't a complete waste.

I give this 3 out of 5.

The Ringer is available in stores near you.

Power Rangers: Turbo, Vol. 2 DVD

The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.*

The five Turbo Rangers use their new powers, weapons and high-tech supercharged vehicles to battle evil at faster speeds than ever before! The beautiful yet vicious space pirate Divatox follows the Power Rangers to Angel Grove to get revenge for ruining her planned wedding to the volcanic island deity Maligore. From her mobile Subcraft armed to the gills with torpedoes and explosives, and crewed by a motley bunch of monsters, she relentlessly pursues our heroes. But the Rangers are not alone in their fight, as they are aided by Dimitria, a wise sage and friend of Zordon; Alpha 6, an advanced robotic sidekick with a streetwise demeanor; the Blue Senturion, a robotic intergalactic traffic cop from the future; and the elusive Phantom Ranger, a one-man army whose very identity is a mystery. An all-new team of Rangers is armed and ready to carry on the Power Rangers legacy!

MY THOUGHTS

I have reviewed the first volume of Power Rangers Turbo and other Power Rangers DVD in the past and this one is just like all the others. The story is a little cheesy and the acting is ok but I never watched it since when it started in North America I was too old to find the shows good but I know a lot of kids have enjoyed the show.  I found the show is ok and I did find myself enjoying this and the other DVDs.

If you or you know a child who just loves Power Rangers then I think it is worth the buy. It isn't really expensive.

I will be giving this to one of my nephews who just absolutely love Power Rangers so I know he will enjoy this one.

I really like that both the shampoo and conditioner are thick but not so thick that you can't squeeze the shampoo and conditioner out . I hate it when the conditioner will not come out and I have to add water to it just to make it not so thick.

The conditioner is easy to rinse out and my hair felt hydrated and silky.

This really lathers well and like that is moisturies my skin. This winter was a bad one and it left my skin really dry but I noticed that this body wash is helping a bit.

All in all I am very impressed with all these Boo Bamboo products. They are all more than I usually pay for personal cleaning products but I beleive these are worth it and if I ever see them in stores here I will be buying them for sure.

I highly recommend all the products I have mentioned .
