Cleopatra 50th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray Giveaway

Enter to Win a Copy of Cleopatra 50th Anniversary Edition Available on Blu-ray May 28

In honor of the iconic film’s 50th anniversary, the 243-minute premiere version of CLEOPATRA has been meticulously restored and presented on Blu-ray for a stunning high definition in-home viewing experience. Artfully packaged with a full-color book featuring rare images from the making of the film, the 2-disc Blu-ray edition is packed with dazzling bonus materials featuring never-before-seen exclusive content including Cleopatra’s lost footage, commentary from Chris Mankiewicz, Tom Mankiewicz, Martin Landau and Jack Brodsky, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and more.

Directed by Academy Award winner Joseph L. Mankiewicz, the historical epic shot on 70mm film was the highest grossing film of 1963, bringing in more than $24 million in its initial release. The film cost an unprecedented $42 million to make (equivalent to over $300 million today) and nearly bankrupted Twentieth Century Fox.  In addition to elaborate sets and costumes, production delays and the relocation of principal filming from London to Rome added to the skyrocketing budget. A very public love affair between Taylor and Burton that blossomed during the three-year production meant that there was as much romance and intrigue off-screen as on-screen.  The film later won four Academy Awards, and was nominated for five more, including Best Picture.

The opulence and grandeur of this epic spectacle has never been more glorious, as it comes to Blu-ray for the very first time. This 2-Disc 50th Anniversary Edition includes a collectible book that provides a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the making of this legendary film.

Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller - Episode 3: The Oracle PC game review

Reed Thriller, continues today with Episode 3: The Oracle for PC and Mac. This chilling continuation of a psychic FBI agent's hunt for a serial killer can be downloaded from and other online stores. The 4-part Cognition series will conclude in late summer with Episode 4: The Cain Killer.

Cognition's third episode picks up right where the last left off, with a body hurtling down the Enthon Towers' 33 stories to smash onto a parked police cruiser. When Erica arrives at the scene her postcognitive powers kick into overdrive, presenting her with powerful visions of past murders and betrayals that occurred in this mysterious luxury apartment building. As Erica discovers more about the serial killer who's baiting her, she realizes that she's not the only one having visions. Now the only way to stop the Oracle is to step into the killer's shoes.

In this unique game, player control alternates between FBI agent and killer as Erica pieces together the past events that led to this moment. Before it's all over, players will make a series of gruesome
discoveries regarding the case Erica most wants to solve: the murder of her own brother. With the same graphic novel art style, Fringe-like paranormal themes, and Saw-style horror sequences that
the Cognition series has been heralded for since its debut last fall, The Oracle is a must-play adventure that builds to an unexpected and wrenching climax.

At, The Oracle sells for $9.99 individually, or in Season Pass bundles that allow players to catch up on the rest of the series at discounted prices. For one day only, Phoenix is offering the following special deals:

      • The $9.99 individual episode comes with 5 free MP3 tracks from the
      • The episode 3 & 4 bundle is on sale for $9.99 (regularly
      • The 4-episode Season Pass is on sale for $19.99 (regularly

I have reviewed all the previous parts of this game and very much like this game. It is fun and the puzzles are challenging. I have gotten a little frustrated with some of the puzzles but after a while I finally was able to finish Episode 3.  Just like the other 2 episodes, the graphics and voice acting are pretty good. I now can't wait to play the last episode of this game.

If you haven't played Cognition:An Erica Reed Thriller yet I highly recommend it.

      I give this 4 out of 5

      Summer memories

Summer is almost here (well hopefully we will get a summer this year) and every summer I remember summers of my childhood.

Every year from May to September my family would pack up the car every Friday as soon as my parents were home from work we would drive up to the trailer for a weekend but sometimes once school was out for the summer we would stay a week. I loved it because I would see my summer friends and would also make new friends and always had tons of fun.

I was barely ever inside and on rainy days I hated being stuck indoors because I wanted to go play with my friends, go swimming, go play in the park, fishing or even go boating. I also loved BBQ-ed food and roasting marshmallows at the campfire. Yes summer was always so much fun and I do have many fond memories.

Here is a photo of me and a friend when I was very young.I am the one with dark curly hair.

Now that I am an adult I would really like to go camping and boating again.  I think last time I went camping I was 22 years old and it now has been almost 15 years since I have went and I do miss it but unfortunately my husband isn't into camping or boating but hopefully some day I will be able to convince him to go with me or maybe i should make it into a  weekend away with some of my female friends instead.

Speaking of boating, did you know that you need boating license in Canada? If you didn't know but would like more info click here. This might sounds stupid but I sure didn't know up until about a year ago.

What are your fondest memories of summer ?

The Sassy Belles by Beth Albright (book review)

                                   photo 16160049_zps328ddbc3.jpg

Meet the Sassy Belles. They're strong as a mint julep, sweet as peach cobbler, and no matter what, they stick together.

There are only two seasons in Tuscaloosa-football and waiting-for-football. When Lewis Heart, football announcer and voice of the Crimson Tide, vanishes after an impromptu romp with Vivi Ann McFadden at the Fountain Mist Motel, Vivi does what any Southern woman would do: call her best friend, Blake O'Hara Heart, attorney-at-law.

With the town gossip swirling around them, Vivi and Blake are determined to find out what happened to Lewis and clear Vivi's reputation. Because after all, men may come and go, but the Sassy Belles are forever.

Not since Steel Magnolias have we fallen in love with such sexy, strong and hilarious Southern women. So grab your best girlfriends and join these Belles on the first of many joyrides through the Deep South....

I wasn't expecting on liking this book but I just absolutely loved it and I was hooked from the very beginning. Very well written and had some parts I laughed out loud.  This is one of the few Harlequin Mira books that I will read again in the future.

Help Captain Canuck -The Animated Web Series

      Hi everyone,

I do not usually do this on my blog and I promise it will not happen often but I really hope that some of you can help these people to make  Captain Canuck-The Animated Web Series.
They currently have raised over $42,000 but they still need your help to get to their goal of $50,000 but there is just 4 days left to reach their goal.

There are many different donation amounts. The lowest is $5 and highest is $5,000 so pretty much anyone can afford to donate to this.  And yes we have made a donation because both my husband and I really want this to happen.

Geekus Interruptus by Mickey J. Corrigan

Marcy Margate has it all: she's young, rich, and built like Barbie. She isn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but the girl's got sass and spunk to spare. Plus, she's sizzling hot. When her marriage to a real live genius starts to dim and grow cool, she's tempted to fool around with the horny neighbor. It would be so simple to revert to her former loose, single-gal ways, so easy to take the sleazy way out.

But Marcy loves her husband, even if Jess Margate is from the planet of the nerds. She decides to play it smart for a change. Using spyware and creative strategy, she plots to find out why her geek has been interruptus. Armed with the latest in miniature technology, Marcy plans to uncover the cause for the downtime in their love life.

A modern romantic comedy of hot errors and hotter apologies, Geekus Interruptus is a story for our time. Because these days, nerds rule. And geeks have guilty pleasures too--some quite different than our own.

Geekus Interruptus is such a wonderful novella . It is perfect for when you just need a quick read in the afternoon.
Like all of the other ebooks by Mickey J. Corrigan that I have read so far, I have quite enjoyed this one. I admit that Mickey is one of my favourite authors and I can't wait to read more of her books.

If you are looking for a quick read that is fun and quirky then this is a great book for you.

      12 Rounds 2: Reloaded Blu-ray giveaway

The Call is Coming from inside the House!

      On Blu-ray, DVD and DigitalHD™ June 4

"Jess, the caller is in the house. The calls are coming from the house!"— Sargeant Nash, Black Christmas 1974
Many action and horror flicks start with a deadly phone call and 12 Rounds 2: Reloaded capitalizes on that form of communication. Here, we take a look at other suspense films using the gripping hook of kicking off the action with a tense phone call.
A twisted genius and a good man are going head-to-head in the ultimate game of cat and mouse! Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and WWE Studios unveil a brand new chapter in its thrilling action franchise with 12 ROUNDS 2: RELOADED. The second installment, starring WWE Superstar Randy Orton, debuts on Digital HD on May 21 and on Blu-ray and DVD on June 4 – just in time for Father’s Day.
As paramedic Nick Malloy, Orton jumps into overdrive in this pulse-pounding, thrill ride filled with gripping suspense! Malloy receives a terrifying call from a vengeful psychopath connected to his past, and the maniac (Brian Markinson) threatens to unleash a murder spree unless Nick can complete a series of 12 challenges without involving the cops or missing a single deadline. With no time to spare — and his own wife’s life on the line — Nick must piece together cryptic clues and hunt down the killer before it’s too late!

When talking epic movie phone calls there’s no better place to start than 2008’s Taken. Action films often use the phone call device as a way to amp up the adrenaline pumping through any given scene. Taken, however, pushes this device to new levels.

The set-up begins whilst Liam Neeson is on the phone to his daughter but here, the key to the scene is not what happens when she’s subsequently kidnapped, but rather what his character says. When he realises one of the kidnappers has picked up the cell phone, he utters what has now become an immortal piece of movie dialogue. 'I don't know who you are, I don't know what you want. If you're looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career, skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you...and I will kill you.' And we’re off…

      When a Stranger Calls

Babysitters don't fare so well on the horror front, as evidenced by everyone from Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween to Carol Kane in this domestic thriller, the 1979 original about a murderer who rings up Cane's caretaker and threatens to kill her and the kids. "Have you checked the children?" the caller famously asks, before it's later revealed that he's calling from inside the house. The film later went on to get the remake treatment in 2006.

      Phone Booth

Colin Farrell's Stu Shephard gets the worst call of his life when he steps into a New York phone booth to contact his mistress, Pam (Katie Holmes). He ends up connecting with Kiefer Sutherland's terrorizing sniper, who wants to teach Stu a lesson for his cocky philandering. Under the direction of hack extraordinaire Joel Schumacher, Phone Booth may seem like an easy film to deride, but it boasts a superb performance from Farrell, and it doubles as a requiem for those titular city fixtures.

I’m not sure I’d even have the guts to borrow a pencil from Mel Gibson, never mind kidnap his son. But for perennial bad-guy portrayer Gary Sinise, kidnapping Braveheart’s boy is all in a day’s dastardly work. Yet even he is shaken by a tense telephone exchange with mad-as-hell Mel (‘GIMME BACK MY SON!’), who has form in real life when it comes to shouting down the blower.

You can only push an angry father so far, and when it comes to Mel Gibson, the proverbial edge is a whole lot closer than usual. While on the phone to his Son’s kidnapper Gary Sinise, Mel Gibson's wealthy ransom-holder finally makes the decision that he's not going to take it anymore, turning the tables and threatening his enemy. His heated rant of "you don't know who you're messing with" is capped off with the famed shout of "Gimme back my son!!!"

In Steven Spielberg's breathless revenge drama, Eric Bana and his fellow vigilantes seek out their second target in Paris, planting a bomb in the man's phone that's set to be detonated by remote. But when it comes time to do the job, the target's young daughter unexpectedly scurries to answer the call, unbeknownst to the point man who's tasked to blow the apartment. In a moment of moral murkiness, the crew averts the murder of the child, and waits for their intended victim to come home.

Perhaps the ultimate film franchise to utilize the telephone to kick things off and hook an audience, Wes Craven's Scream saga all began with that little call made to Drew Barrymore's bob-rocking Casey Becker, who's told by a snake-like voice that she's going to be gutted "like a fish." The call starts out playful, with Casey telling her pestering stranger that there are "900 numbers" for anonymous chats with girls, but it doesn't take long for the exchange to turn nasty. Casey is eventually forced to play a game of trivia, wherein her and her boyfriend's life hangs in the balance. In a way, the chilling prologue was the slasher-film equivalent of the circle of life: Casey finally met her grisly death, but in turn, an enduring new series was born.

Drith by Donna Thorland ebook review

A sword and sorcery tale in the tradition of Jirel of Joiry and Black Agnes.

      From Tangent:

Drith and Shard are on the run, heading to the ancient city of Seleucia. Set in an alternate history Earth, the story contains many fantasy elements, including magic and archetypes: Drith is a skilled thief, Shard a swordsman. Upon their arrival, they are taken to Prince Nikoleides who tasks Drith with finding a particular book in possession of his rival Ambrose. Shard is to remain as human collateral. Truths unfold as Drith’s mission progresses, unravelling a far more intricate situation than it once seemed.

This is a short ebook at 39 pages but even for a short fantasy book this is a fantastic read that I couldn't put down at all. It sucked me in right from the beginning and I am sure many of you will.

If you want to purchase this ebook you can do so at and Barnes & Noble.
