Skillet Pumpkin Sauce Thai coconut flavor review

Skillet Pumpkin Sauce is the newest addition to the Skillet line. Our pumpkin ketchups have all the same condiment appeal as regular ketchup but with a unique flavor and a great nutritional profile that comes from the naturally occurring vitamins and minerals in pumpkin.

The Thai Coconut is filled with a rich coconut flavor, Asian spices and curry, and – of course – pumpkin, the Thai Coconut flavor goes in a new direction. It terrific as a dipping sauce with Vietnamese spring rolls or as a flavor base for a stir fry with your favorite veggies.

Check out this and other products from Skillet

MY REVIEW

I have tried this in a stir fry and I hated it. I now know I do not like curry. I thought it was a little gross and just couldn't eat more than a couple of bites. Good thing I didn't make much stir fry because I ended up throwing it out. Now I am not saying it is bad or good but I am just saying that I didn't like curry and just have to be honest with you all. If you like curry you may like it but it really isn't for me.

Beautiful Sacrifice by Elizabeth Lowell book review

Archaeologist Lina Taylor has devoted her life to studying ancient Mayan artifacts, splitting her time between digs in South America and the classroom teaching college students. But the professor’s structured, studious life is about to spin out of control. Some extremely valuable and important Mayan artifacts have gone missing. Is it fanatics determined to create chaos and usher in annihilation?

Helping out a friend, former Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer Hunter Johnson is determined to recover the missing pieces and he needs Lina’s help. A man used to calling the shots and working alone, he isn’t comfortable letting anyone get close, especially a beautiful and brainy woman like Lina. His gift for reading people tells him there’s a lot going on below that professional exterior, and he’s more than a little curious to probe her depths. Burying herself in her work, Lina’s had little experience handling men, especially one as fascinating and exasperating as the secretive, headstrong Hunter. A devoted archaeologist, she has the skill to excavate those protective layers all the way to his core.

But finding the missing pieces is only the beginning of a mystery that will plunge these unlikely partners into adventure, romance, and danger more thrilling, sensual, and deadly than either of them knows . . .

MY REVIEW

I read this this weekend and it took me a while to read it. I thought the author did her research and I liked the book but this would not be a book I would ever read ever again. It did entertain me but it could have been better.

The Secrets of Mary Bowser by Lois Leveen book review

Based on the remarkable true story of a freed African American slave who returned to Virginia at the onset of the Civil War to spy on the Confederates, The Secrets of Mary Bowser is a masterful debut by an exciting new novelist. Author Lois Leveen combines fascinating facts and ingenious speculation to craft a historical novel that will enthrall readers of women’s fiction, historical fiction, and acclaimed works like Cane River and Cold Mountain that offer intimate looks at the twin nightmares of slavery and Civil War. A powerful and unforgettable story of a woman who risked her own freedom to bring freedom to millions of others, The Secrets of Mary Bowser celebrates the courageous achievements of a little known but truly inspirational American heroine.

Ubisoft's Horse Haven Facebook game review #UbiChamps #spon

I don't usually review Facebook games because I am very picky when it comes to these kind of games and I often do not have the time to play them because usually when I am on Facebook I just post on my timeline and read what other people wrote on their timeline.

Anyways Horse Haven is from UbiSoft and I am a big fan of Ubisoft so that is why I jumped on the chance to review this game.

You first start off with a horse and then eventually you can buy more. As you play along and get more experience you can expand your ranch and rebuild the ranch as well and add onto it as well.

MY REVIEW

I have only been able to play Ubisoft's Horse Haven a little bit so I have not really got very far in this game yet but so far I like it. I have went in to play a few times during the past three days but some of the time it wouldn't load at all or the screen was stuck at the loading screen. I am not really sure if it is a glitch or maybe my internet is slow (my internet is often slow at times) and that is a reason why I didn't play this game as much as I have been wanting to. So far from the little bit of playing I have done I liked it and I think I will play it again. Not sure if I will play it a lot because usually after a month or so I get bored of Facebook games.

If you are into Facebook games like this then I think you might like this game.

Thank you to Ubisoft for sponsoring this blog post. Please click here to learn more about Ubisoft. I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective. All opinions are my own. #UbiChamps

Aurora World Inc. CRINKLE FRIEND review and giveaway

I have done a bunch of reviews for Aurora World Inc. before and I am very impressed with all their products I have received to review so far. Aurora World Inc. CRINKLE FRIEND line has Hedgehog (“10.5), Toucan (8.5”), Alligator (13”) and Crab (10.5) and are for children six months and up.They will help babies with developmental skills, focus, stimulate vision.  I received the Toucan (pictured above) and just like all of the other products from Aurora I have received I think this is fantastic.

I gave this to my little baby nephew and he very much enjoyed it. He seemed to love the crinkle sound a lot and when you make it squeak he would laugh at it . Even before I gave it to him he just kept staring at the Toucan and as soon as I gave it to him he smiled when it crinkled in hands. Isn't that just so cute?
Would you like to have the chance to win one of these cute plushies for your baby or for a niece or nephew?  You can enter below for your chance to win 1 of these crinkle friends.

Arranged by Catherine McKenzie book review

Anne Blythe has a great life: a good job, good friends, and a potential book deal for her first novel. When it comes to finding someone to share it with, however, she just can't seem to get it right.

After yet another relationship ends, Anne comes across a business card for what she thinks is a dating service, and she pockets it just in case. When her best friend, Sarah, announces she's engaged, Anne can't help feeling envious. On an impulse, she decides to give the service a try because maybe she could use a little assistance in finding the right man. But Anne soon discovers the company isn't a dating service; it's an exclusive, and pricey, arranged marriage service. She initially rejects the idea, but the more she thinks about it-and the company's success rate-the more it appeals to her. After all, arranged marriages are the norm for millions of women around the world, so why wouldn't it work for her?

A few months later, Anne is traveling to a Mexican resort, where in one short weekend she will meet and marry Jack. And against all odds, it seems to be working out-until Anne learns that Jack, and the company that arranged their marriage, are not what they seem at all.

The Shadows Below (Northern Lights Novels) by Hugh Gibbins eBook review

An acrid cloud of greed and corruption hangs over the open pit mines of the Alberta oil sands. Aboriginal politicians prove to be no less susceptible to its effects than the shady front-men of multi-national oil companies. Traditional roles are reversed, old enemies become bedfellows – and one young scientist is caught in the middle of a deadly web of lies and deceit.

Andrew Miller’s life is turned upside down when he witnesses the brutal murder of an aboriginal man while conducting an environmental survey on a small oil sands lease. Threatened by the murderers and warned not to go to the police, he is faced with an agonizing dilemma: can he, in good conscience, stay quiet, or can he somehow shed light on the murder without bringing harm to himself and his loved ones?

Andrew unwittingly stumbles across the identity of one of the murderers, and he and his girlfriend begin to unravel the threads of a multi-billion dollar international conspiracy that threatens to tear a small aboriginal community apart. But the murderers’ suspicions are aroused when Andrew asks one question too many – and a deadly game of cat and mouse ensues. With time running out, Andrew turns in desperation to an enigmatic aboriginal elder who might be able to interpret his strange and recurring dream of a white buffalo calf. Will the elder – and the dream – help him to elude his pursuers and expose the conspiracy, or will Andrew be powerless to prevent his own murder?

The Shadows Below is a fast-paced suspense novel that paints a portrait of a community struggling to deal with vast cultural change – and of the dark side of human nature that lurks just below the surface.

This Means War DVD Giveaway

I have reviewed This Means War last week and now you have a chance to win a copy on DVD.

Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy Form the
Perfect Love Triangle in this Action Packed Comedy
Available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download May 22

They are the CIA’s best, trained for any situation…except one.  Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment plays the ultimate spy game as two best friends fight for the right of one woman’s hand in THIS MEANS WAR, coming to Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download May 22.  Starring Academy Award® winner Reese Witherspoon* (Walk the Line), Chris Pine (Star Trek) and Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises), the laugh-out-loud comedy gets even better on Blu-ray with three alternate endings that answer the question – what if she chose the other guy?

The world's deadliest CIA operatives, FDR Foster (Pine) and Tuck (Hardy) are inseparable partners and best friends until they fall for the same woman (Witherspoon).  Having once helped bring down entire enemy nations, they are now employing their incomparable skills and an endless array of high-tech gadgetry against their greatest nemesis – each other.

A SECOND SHOT AT LOVE

In This Means War, Lauren doesn’t automatically fall for FDR; it took some getting used to the idea before she agreed to go on a date with him.  In this feature, we will highlight other films where the characters didn’t start off on the right foot but soon enough had second thoughts, including: Margaret and Andrew in The Proposal, Abby and Mike in The Ugly Truth and Andie and Ben in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

 MARGARET & ANDREW
The Proposal

To say Andrew wasn’t fond of Margaret at first would be an understatement.  In The Proposal, a pushy and manipulative boss, Margaret (Sandra Bullock), forces her young assistant, Andrew (Ryan Reynolds) to marry her in order to keep her visa status in the US and avoid being deported back to Canada.  As part of the deal, Andrew demands her to promise him a promotion.  However, a skeptical INS agent thinks they’re committing a fraud and vows to test the couple in a few weeks.  As Andrew plans to fly home for his grandma’s 90th birthday, so does Margaret.  Tensions grow and hilarity ensue as two people who didn’t get along start to see each other in a different light while being in the middle of small town Sitka, Alaska.

ABBY & MIKE
The Ugly Truth

Morning TV show producer Abby Richter’s (Katherine Heigl) career and personal life are tossed upside down when her boss hires a crass and relationship cynic to head up their new segment, The Ugly Truth.  As Mike Chadway (Gerard Butler) improves the ratings of their show, Abby dabbles with the idea of having him help her relationship issues and if he fails, he has to leave the show.  As the two spend more time with each other, both on the job and helping Abby’s dating dilemmas, their relationship improves and they go from hating each other to something more.

ANDIE & BEN
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

What started off as a challenge for two head-strong career-driven individuals eventually become a stepping stone for falling in love.  In How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson) is a writer for a woman’s magazine whose new piece is all about all the don’ts that women do that eventually drive men away.  To write her piece, she vows to date someone and do all the things women do that make men break up with them all within a 10-day time frame.  Benjamin Barry (Matthew McConaughey) is an exec who wants to land the new client – a billionaire who’s in the diamond business – by proving to his boss that he knows how to sell diamonds because he can make women fall in love with him.  These two paths cross and as they try to set out their goals, one of them eventually wins.

VIVIAN & EDWARD
Pretty Woman

One of the most beloved love-story in recent pop culture, Pretty Woman tells the story of a successful businessman, Edward Lewis, who upon getting lost on Hollywood Boulevard meets a charming prostitute, Vivian Ward.  Though she was only meant to assist him to find his destination, Edward invites her to stay with him in his penthouse suite in Los Angeles and escort him to social events.  Though their relationship began as a “working” one, things progressed and they soon learn to understand each other’s world and backgrounds.

The Queen: A Life in Brief by Robert Lacey book review

Elizabeth II was not born to be queen. She came into the world on April 21, 1926, the equivalent of the modern Princess Beatrice, first-born daughter of the Duke of York, destined to flutter on the royal fringe. So while Lilibet was brought up with almost religious respect for the crown, there seemed no chance of her inheriting it. Her head was never turned by the personal prospect of grandeur—which is why she would prove so very good at her job. Elizabeth II's lack of ego was to prove the paradoxical secret of her greatness.

For more than thirty years, acclaimed author and royal biographer Robert Lacey has been gathering material from members of the Queen's inner circle—her friends, relatives, private secretaries, and prime ministers. Now, in The Queen, Lacey offers a life of the celebrated monarch, told in six succinct chapters, accentuated by elegant color and black-and-white photographs that capture the distinctive flavor of passing eras and reveal how Elizabeth II adapted—or, on occasions, regally declined to adapt—to changing times.

MY REVIEW

I liked this book. There was a lot I didn't know about Queen Elizabeth II. Very well written and so much full of great information. If you like learning about royalty then you might enjoy this one.

This book is available in major bookstores.

I give this 3 out of 5

Deaf Isn't Dumb by Tara Chevrestt eBook review

Deaf Isn't Dumb is a motivational story of a young woman, Tara, who faces the challenges of growing up "hearing impaired" in a hearing world. Follow her stories as she recounts everything from childhood bullies to work related restrictions and funny misunderstandings from mispronounced words to fear of Federal Air Marshals. In this tale, straight from the heart, learn that simply because one is deaf--contrary to popular misconception--it doesn't mean they are dumb

MY REVIEW

Tara Chevrestt has written and other awesome ebook. This memoir is very well written.I am not usually into memoirs but I was hooked into this one from the very beginning and I actually stayed up late reading this.I admit I do not know much about being deaf but now I know more. I highly recommend this.

A Good Man by Vanessa Morgan

Loved DEXTER and AMERICAN PSYCHO? Then you'll love A GOOD MAN.

Louis Caron is a good man - vegetarian, he feeds the homeless, takes care of animals and is even concerned with the ecological future of the planet. But his altruism has a sinister edge - he's a vampire - and local detective Taglioni is becoming increasingly suspicious. Louis' attempt to escape the police takes him on a journey into his own private hell where he is not only forced to confront his worst fears, but also to destroy the lives of those he cares about most.

MY REVIEW

I do not usually read and review screenplays but A Good Man really sounded interesting so I decided to it this book.I am so glad I accepted to review this one because I got sucked into this story from the very beginning and I easily imagine each scene and characters as well . Very well written and easy to follow. Also this  story is currently in preproduction with Radowski Films.
I recommend this to horror fans.
