Afterburn by Sonia Hightower eBook review

Crystal is an enlisted mechanic with a tragic past. Grant is an officer and a pilot with a broken heart. When faced with a difficult decision, will Crystal choose wisely or lose the best thing that ever happened to her?

The love between them burns hot, but their relationship won't stay fueled if they can't beat the obstacles in their way. Besides breaking the fraternization rules, Grant and Crystal have the difference of race between them…but can they prove to the rest of the world, and to each other, that love is color blind?

Afterburn is about overcoming one's past, not judging others, learning to forgive, and what it's like to be a woman in a "man's world."

MY REVIEW

This novella is just 79 pages but I tell you for such a short book it is great. It is very well written and you very well can imaging all that is going on. I started reading this and could not put it down until the end. This story tackles the  subject of interracial relationships and the sexual harassment that still goes on today in the military.

More Like Her by Liza Palmer book review

What really goes on behind those perfect white picket fences?

In Frances's mind, beautiful, successful, ecstatically married Emma Dunham is the height of female perfection. Frances, recently dumped with spectacular drama by her boyfriend, aspires to be just like Emma. So do her close friends and fellow teachers, Lisa and Jill. But Lisa's too career-focused to find time for a family. And Jill's recent unexpected pregnancy could have devastating consequences for her less-than-perfect marriage.

Yet sometimes the golden dream you fervently wish for turns out to be not at all what it seems--like Emma's enviable suburban postcard life, which is about to be brutally cut short by a perfect husband turned killer. And in the shocking aftermath, three devastated friends are going to have to come to terms with their own secrets . . . and somehow learn to move forward after their dream is exposed as a lie.

MY REVIEW

This book starts off a little slow but after a few chapters I really started getting better. This wasn't a book that got me hooked but it is a easy read. Good for sitting out at the beach or out in the backyard relaxing. Would I read this one again? I don't think so.

This game is a game I will be playing again and I know my husband will like playing this game as well. I love the controls set up and the graphics are pretty good. If you like fighting/combat games I thing you might enjoy this one. My only complaint is that it takes so long to load.

Wholesale Costume Club- Womens Plus Size T-bird Sweetie Costume

I got the chance to review a costume from Wholesale Costume Club , I went and searched for a plus size costume and after about an hour of searching through their site I finally picked the Womens Plus Size T-bird Sweetie Costume because I am a big fan of Grease.
I am sorry this is not a photo of me wearing my costume but I had no way of getting my photo taken.
As a plus size lady I always find it difficult to find costumes that fits and that I like but if you look in this site you will most likely find a few that you like and that will fit you.

Now about the costume itself which I just absolutely love. It fits prefect and it is very comfortable too. You get the pants, jacket and the scarf for a low price.
Now the only problem is I can't wait to go out to Halloween party or an 50's themed party .

I highly recommend this site.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Harriet Beamer Takes the Bus by Joyce Magnin book review

In this new contemporary novel, middle-aged Harriet Beamer is forced to leave her home in Philadelphia and move to Grass Valley California because her children decide it's time. But Harriet doesn't take the change lightly and seizes the opportunity to make the journey of her life as she travels from town to town, city to city all the way across the country using nothing but local buses, trains, ferries, trolleys and the occasional hot air balloon, a motorcycle and an Amish buggy. But it is on this journey that Harriet learns that although her family thinks it's time for her to be put out to pasture, God has a different plan.

MY REVIEW

I must admit I was a little worried I might now like this book because I hate giving negative reviews but boy I was wrong about this novel. I brought this book in bed with me and only planned on reading a few pages but I enjoyed so much that just a few pages ended up to be a few chapters and ended up putting this one down a little after 1AM .
This is very well written novel and it kinda made me want to travel just like Harriet does. I highly recommend this book.

The Thirteen by Susie Moloney book review

The Witches of Eastwick meets Desperate Housewives in Susie Moloney's The Thirteen, a Globe and Mail Best Book.

Haven Woods is suburban heaven, a great place to raise a family. It's close to the city, quiet, with great schools and its own hospital right up the road. Property values are climbing. The streets are clean, people keep their yards really nicely. It's fairly pet friendly, though barking dogs are not welcomed. The crime rate is practically non-existent, unless you count the odd human sacrifice, dismemberment, animal attack, demon rape and blood atonement. When Paula Wittmore goes home to Haven Woods to care for a suddenly ailing mother, she brings her daughter and a pile of emotional baggage. She also brings the last chance for twelve of her mother's closest frenemies, who like to keep their numbers at thirteen. And her daughter, young, innocent, is a worthy gift to the darkness.

A circle of friends will support you through bad times. A circle of witches can drag you through hades.

MY REVIEW

The story starts off a little boring but it gets a bit better as you keep reading but it really could have been better.

You can purchase this book at most major bookstores

MY REVIEW

This game is super fun and it is pretty difficult too especially if you are like me who just can't dance (and shouldn't dance in public) even the easy dances are not that easy but maybe it is just because I am horrible at dancing .  I played this a bunch of times when I was alone in the house and even though I am horrible at it I actually had a lot of fun . If you like dance games this is one to get and of course there are some extra songs you can purchase downloadable  song packs for even more fun.

I give this 4 out of 5.

I read so many good reviews about this show and because of that I really thought I would like it and decided to pick this to review . I started watching it yesterday morning and I have to admit I do not like this at all and I didn't really find it that funny. Sure I did laugh at a few jokes but it just wasn't funny enough. I kept watching though because I had to watch and review but if it weren't for the review I had to write I would not have even watched half of the season. Anyways if you liked watched season 1 on tv then you will love having it on DVD but personally I just did not like this show.

Buy Eyeglasses Online: Vision & Fashion the Frugal Way

Buy Eyeglasses Online: Vision & Fashion the Frugal Way

A month ago, CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) published a piece of news about purchasing eyeglasses online; a month later, this news has already been commented on by thousands of people. With the rise of purchasing eyeglasses online, more and more eyeglass wearers have begun to focus their attention on it. However, with regard to buying eyewear online, some support it while others still have doubts about it. What has turned numerous eyeglass wearers from traditional brick-and-mortar eyeglass stores to online ones? Firmoo's slogan tells you everything: Vision and Fashion the Frugal Way.
Most eyeglasses wearers have purchased eyeglasses at traditional eyeglass stores. Nevertheless, due to the limited styles and unaffordable prices, consumers have had to regard eyeglasses as a medical tool used to correct vision instead of a fashion accessory. But now, with the emergence of online eyeglass shopping, we can get fashionable eyeglasses at reasonable prices. Among the many online eyeglass stores, Firmoo, which combines fashion and economy, is undoubtedly the most outstanding one.
As we all know, we usually have to spend hundreds of dollars on a pair of glasses at brick-and-mortar eyeglass stores. Yet, you can get the same pair of glasses from online eyeglass stores at a fraction of the price. For this reason, buying glasses online is, so to speak, quite an economical way to get eyeglasses. Among the numerous online optical stores, Firmoo is the most economic one. Customers can usually get their beloved glasses at a price that is up to 90% lower than that in brick-and-mortar eyeglass stores. Furthermore, new customers can even get their first pair for FREE there. Some people may doubt the quality, safety, durability, etc. of eyeglasses purchased online, but there is no need to worry when purchasing from Firmoo. Firstly, all glasses provided by Firmoo are carefully manufactured by skilled workers and are strictly inspected by professional opticians before shipment, thus ensuring the quality and safety of glasses; secondly, Firmoo has developed a try-on tool for customers to try their beloved eyeglasses on so as to see how they look on them; thirdly, Firmoo has a customer service team that has always been committed to offering their valued customers the best service; lastly, all glasses available at Firmoo are provided by their affiliated factory, which is why they can offer eyeglasses at such a low price.
"We have dozens of affiliated eyeglasses factories which enable us to provide our customers with the most affordable eyeglasses around because there are no middlemen in between. Meanwhile, we have devoted ourselves to providing our valued customers with fashionable and aesthetic eyeglasses," said Patrick Li, Firmoo's CEO.
Compared with purchasing eyeglasses at brick-and-mortar eyeglass stores, purchasing eyeglasses online is not only more economical but also enables customers to select from more fashion elements. This is due to Firmoo meticulously picking several hundred classic styles from thousands of eyeglass models.
Firmoo CEO Patrick Li also added, "Our team has selected hundreds of classical and fashionable styles in order to save time for our customers when they are picking eyeglasses."
So what do online eyeglass stores bring to us? We believe the answer is fashion and frugality.

Shame Blu-ray Combo Pack review

Brandon (Michael Fassbender) is a New Yorker who shuns intimacy with women but feeds his desires with a compulsive addiction to sex. When his wayward younger sister (Carey Mulligan) moves into his apartment and stirs up memories of their shared painful past, Brandon’s insular life spirals out of control.

Available Exclusively on Blu-ray Combo Pack April 17

MY REVIEW

I had never heard of this movie but I chose it anyways because I like watching new movies and never know if you will like it or not. Anyways if you want to watch this movie make sure the children are out or in bed because there is a lot of nudity both male and female ( Rated NC-17)  so if you do not like movies with nudity then don't even bother watching this one. I thought this movie could have been better with a bit less nudity and I do not have problems with movies with nudity but really this movie didn't really need so much.  Also the story I found to be a bit boring and didn't think the acting was all that great. Personally I will not be watching this movie ever again and I do not recommend it.

MY REVIEW

I have very much enjoyed the Courtney Crumrin series. They so far have all been very well written and drawn and this one I have enjoyed just as much as all the other graphic novels by Ted Naifeh I have read so far and can't wait to read more. I highly recommend this.

I give this 5 out of 5

Costume Discounters Review

I love Halloween and dressing up and when I got approved to do a review for costumes for plus size. After spending hours of looking into the site I actually had a difficult time choosing  a costume I really wanted. Not because there wasn't anything interesting but because there were so many I wanted to try. After a few hours and after some suggestions from friends I finally picked the Sultry Sorceress Plus Costume.

I am sorry this is not a photo of me wearing my costume but I had no way of getting my photo taken.

This costume looks exactly like pictured. I put it on a little shortly after it was delivered and I wore it for about an hour. It fits good but unfortunately I am  short (5'4) and it is a little to long at the bottom and the arms. Not really a big deal because it will be easy to fix but other than that it fits great. It is easy to put on and it is comfy but my only problem with this costume is that the the lace around the neckline is stiff and itchy. Other than that this costume is great and it isn't expensive at all which is great especially if you have a few of them to buy.

Anyways, check them out if you are looking for costume discounts, you will find a lot of great costumes that you will want to buy for yourself and your family members. They also have a lot of accessories as well and they show suggestions to what you may need/want for your costumes.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

MY REVIEW

I don't think I have ever seen this cartoon when I was a child but I had heard of it. I watched this DVD yesterday and I thought it was good. A little cheesy (like any other old cartoons) but still pretty good.I will be watching this again at some point for sure. This is one for all ages to enjoy. I highly recommend this DVD.

Timelapse by Lorrie Farrelly eBook review

The accidental death of his beloved wife sent Alex Morgan into a numbing world of suppressed grief and rage, eased only by a profound bond with his son. Suddenly his life is shattered again when a chance discovery propels him into a world gone horribly, terrifyingly wrong.

Piecing together clues in this new nightmare, Alex suspects a colleague of taking a few, meddling steps back in time, changing the course of history - destroying Alex's family and his world. Desperately clinging to his sanity, he searches for any evidence his young son still exists.

Jessica O'Neil is fighting a nightmare of her own, captured and facing execution for freedom-fighting heroics in her grim, oppressive world. When Alex rescues the feisty young rebel, she resists her dangerous attraction to him - a man who's clearly crazy, literally in a world of his own.

Bound together first by chance and desperation, then by growing purpose, respect, and emotion, Alex and Jessie must depend on each other to survive. More than that, they must find a way to prevent a terrible crime from taking place - a crime that plunged both their worlds into nightmare - over a hundred years before. To have a future, they will have to find their way to the past.

MY REVIEW

Very good book. I read this a bit last night and then read the rest of it this morning. I do like time travel books but I find they are hard to find so i was glad to review this book. It is very well written and will get you hooked on the story from the very beginning. If you enjoy time traveling books then I highly recommend this.

If you want to purchase this you can purchase Kindle version or paperback.

Wheels Of Destruction video game review

Title: Wheels of Destruction

Developer: Gelid Games

Publisher: Gelid Games

Platforms: PlayStation Network

Genre: Car combat, Class shooter
Launch Date: April 3, 2012

Price: $9.99 ($7.99 for PS+)

ESRB: ‘E’ for Everyone

I admit that I am horrible at games like this but I play them anyways because they are fun. Wheels Of Destruction is super fun but  the controls are a bit different and I just couldn't get used to them. I am not that great at games like this but I was having even more trouble with the controls. I just wish there was a way to fix the controls to the way you want like in some games. After an hour of playing I still had a hard time with the controls but I did manage to " kill" 1  (yay me!)

I am impressed by the graphics and I like that you can play online or off-line, even though off-line can be a little boring but I think before you go online I suggest you play off-line to get used the controls and learn the game. Online you can play capture-the-flag, team deathmatch or free-for-
all  but my favorite is free-for-all because I am crazy that way.
There are 5 car classes and each has its own strength and weakness between speed, fire-rate and armor, yet the game comes out perfectly balanced.

There are four weapon pickups to collect; your default artillery, rockets, a raillgun or a flamethrower.

Anyways, I think this game is ok but really not sure if I would ever play it again but I will keep it for my hubby because he might like it.

I give this 3 out of 5
