As the plot twists, the line between reality and dream becomes blurred in this fast-paced, unpredictable, “sexy and suspenseful” (Empire) thriller.

MY REVIEW

I didn't like this movie at all. I thought it was boring and confusing. The acting was ok but I would never buy this movie. Maybe some of you like this kind of movie but personally I just couldn't get into it and had to force myself to watch it all.

I give this 1 out of 5

MY REVIEW

Well this game sure wasn't as easy as I thought it would be but that is a good thing. You don't want a game to is not challenging and that doesn't take long to finish.

I do not usually play this genre of games but once in a while I like to play different genre of games.

This game has a interesting story-line and I liked the music in the game. The game itself is good but I didn't like the voice acting.

If you want to purchase this game. you can purchase is for PC at postudio.com . You can download the demo to try before you buy.

I give this 3 out of 4.

What is your favourite season? Mine is Summer

I love Summer because I love sitting out on the patio and do some reading. Currently we have plastic patio table and 3 plastic chairs that my parents gave us and earlier this month we bought a umbrella . We would really like to eventually buy patio furniture that is much more comfortable than the old plastic table and chairs that we currently have and maybe one of those swings. I know I would spend even more time outside in the backyard just relaxing and maybe have some friends over for a nice BBQ dinner but it will have to wait a few years I think because we might have to move in a year and we do not know if we will have a yard so really it is no point in buying something we know we might have to sell again in a few months. Hopefully sometime soon we will be able to live at the same place for longer than a few years but right now with my husband's work we just don't know when or where we will be moving to next.

An other thing I love to do is play outside with our little dog. Sure we play outside all year long but it he seems to enjoy summer more as well.

I also love using the BBQ . Nothing is better than burgers ,steaks and chicken cooked on the BBQ and of course drinking some delicious cold drinks

I love swimming but I have to admit I haven't done that in a few years.
I do not mind the thunderstorms. I have never been scared of them and actually I missed them when we lived out in Victoria, BC for 4 years. They do not get many thunderstorms out there so when we moved back out in Ontario in the July 2010 I couldn't wait for a thunderstorm . Is that weird?

Also I like the fact that I don't have to wear a winter jacket, boots, gloves and hat. An I am not a big fan of snow and the cold.

Which season is your favourite and why?

While following a few comical leads leads to uncover the mystery behind the doctor's missing three-legged chocolate lab Triangle, they realize that not only are appearances very deceiving, but the unique characters who make up their own families actually seem sane as they confront a few quirky individuals that are key to returning their subject safely where he belongs.

Review: BEFORE WATCHMEN: Nite Owl/ Dr. Manhattan

DC Comics has released another collection of its Before Watchmen series entitled BEFORE WATCHMEN: Nite Owl/ Dr Manhattan.  Writer J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon Five, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man) wrote all of the stories in this collection, with art by the late Joe Kubert (Sgt Rock) and son Andy Kubert (Marvel's 1602, DC's Flashpoint) on the Nite Owl portion, and Adam Hughes (Superman/Gen13).

Nite Owl follows the adventures of Dan Dreiberg, the second Nite Owl.  After teaming up with Rorschach after the initial meeting of the Crimebuster's team, Nite Owl investigates a series of violent murders against woman, mostly hookers.  Compelled to act due to witnessing his own mother being beat up by his father, he goes to the dark underside of New York, guided by a mysterious dominatrix know as the Twilight Lady.

Dr. Manhattan gets into the mind of the omnipotent hero.  Able to see all of his life, both the past, present and future all at the same time, Dr. Manhattan knows the outcome of every decision and can avoid making the wrong one,  But when he chooses to make a different decision in his past, he realizes he can see different  time lines resulting from his choices.  But with every possible timeline seemingly ending with the death of the world, Dr Manhattan has to choose which path to take to save all of humanity.

Like the other Before Watchmen books,  the story is constricted by the event of the original Watchmen mini-series.  J. Michael Straczynski's writing is solid, but adds little to the characters..  In Nite Owl, the inclusion of Dan's exposure to domestic violence as a child may have driven this story, but really has no bearing of the main series.  Even the Twilight Lady was a reference to a  panel in the Watchmen book.  This series now gives that photo more context, but it is still inconsequential.  Dr Manhattan was bit more interesting, as you got to see things from his perspective.  The story gives you an idea of why Dr. Manhattan let thing happen the way they did in Watchmen.  His main concern was the survival of the world and in the end, he got that.  You even get a glimpse of what happened to him afterwards, as it is all happening to him all at once.

The art is well done.  The Kubert's art on Nite Owl is good and is well suited for the tome of the series.  Adam Hughes' art on Dr. Manhattan is also well done.  While Mr. Hughes is most known for his pin-up like depictions of curvy super-heroines, his art captures the various time lines that Manhattan experiences well.

The book also includes the two-part Moloch series, depicting the life of one of the Minutemen's old foes, his rise and fall and eventual employment by Adrian Veidt, aka Ozymandias.  It is also written by Mr. Straczynski, with art by Eduardo Risso.

Like my last review, these are good stories that add to the back stories of the Watchmen characters.  fan of these characters may like these series, as it pays tribute to the classic series.

The book retails for $29.00 US/ $35.00 CDN and IS SUGGESTED FOR MATURE READERS

City of Mirrors: A Diana Poole Thriller (Diana Poole #1) by Melodie Johnson Howe Book review

*The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.*

Running out of money, Diana Poole is forced to go back to the only work she knows: acting. Her much-loved husband and movie-star mother have died, and now Diana is over thirty-five. In Hollywood that means she might as well be dead. Still, a few key people remember her talent, and she lands a role in a new movie. But an actress should never get her hopes up, especially when she discovers the female lead's murdered body. Raised in her mother's shadow, Diana knows people in "the business"will go to dangerous lengths to protect their images. When her own life and career are threatened, Diana decides to fight back and find the killer. But unmasking the surprising murderer isn't that easy, especially when she uncovers what's real--and unreal--in her own life

MY REVIEW

City of Mirrors is a thriller written by Melodie Johnson Howe.  I don't read thriller novels much these days. Not because i don't like this genre but because I am picky and have not found many thrillers that catches my interest.

I am so happy I read this one. It is a easy read that I very much enjoyed from beginning to end. This book is well written . If you are a fan of Melodie Johnson Howe's writing or love thrillers similar to this one you might enjoy this one.

I give this 4 out of 5

Do you suffer from sore knees after strenuous workouts, household chores and that touch of arthritis put tremendous stress on your knees?Or like me who sometimes get a sore knee for no reason at all . Well you might be interested in this product that I am reviewing today.
I really like the THERA°PEARL Knee Wrap. I find it fits great and it made me feel a bit better.  I found it great for when I am just around the house doing my blogging, laundry, dishes, cleaning and such. What you do is either put in in the microwave for less than 40 minutes for warm therapy or you can put it in the fridge of freezer for at least 2 hours for cold therapy.

THERA°PEARL Pack should be applied to skin for doctor recommended time of 20 minutes and then wait 20 minutes then reapply for an other 20  minutes if needed.

This pack is $19.99 so not very expensive at all.

I am actually thinking of buying an other one for my husband to use as well.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Written by:                                Kelly Marcel and Sue Smith

Two-time Academy Award®–winner Emma Thompson and fellow double Oscar®-winner Tom Hanks topline Disney’s “Saving Mr. Banks,” inspired by the extraordinary, untold backstory of how Disney’s classic “Mary Poppins” made it to the screen.

When Walt Disney’s daughters begged him to make a movie of their favorite book, P.L. Travers’ “Mary Poppins,” he made them a promise—one that he didn’t realize would take 20 years to keep. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer who has absolutely no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny get mauled by the Hollywood machine. But, as the books stop selling and money grows short, Travers reluctantly agrees to go to Los Angeles to hear Disney’s plans for the adaptation.

For those two short weeks in 1961, Walt Disney pulls out all the stops. Armed with imaginative storyboards and chirpy songs from the talented Sherman brothers, Walt launches an all-out onslaught on P.L. Travers, but the prickly author doesn’t budge. He soon begins to watch helplessly as Travers becomes increasingly immovable and the rights begin to move further away from his grasp.

It is only when he reaches into his own childhood that Walt discovers the truth about the ghosts that haunt her, and together they set Mary Poppins free to ultimately make one of the most endearing films in cinematic history.

Disney presents “Saving Mr. Banks,” directed by John Lee Hancock, produced by Alison Owen, Ian Collie and Philip Steuer, and written by Kelly Marcel and Sue Smith. Executive producers are Paul Trijbits, Andrew Mason, Troy Lum and Christine Langan. The film will release in theatres on December 13, 2013, limited, and open wide on December 20, 2013.

Inspired by true events, “Saving Mr. Banks” is the extraordinary, untold story of how Disney’s classic “Mary Poppins” made it to the screen—and the testy relationship that the legendary Walt Disney had with author P.L. Travers that almost derailed it.

Notes:

·         “Saving Mr. Banks” is the first film to depict the iconic entrepreneur Walt Disney.
·         Richard and Robert Sherman’s original score and song (“Chim Chim-Cher-ee”) would go on to win Oscars® at the 1965 ceremonies.
·         “Mary Poppins” won five awards of its 13 Academy Award® nominations: Best Actress (Julie Andrews), Best Effects, Best Film Editing, Original Score and Original Song. Among the nominations were Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.
·         Disney began his quest to get the rights to “Mary Poppins” in the 1940s as a promise to his two daughters.
·         P.L. Travers’ father was a banker and is the basis for the “Mary Poppins” story’s patriarch, Mr. Banks—the character in the book whom the famous fictional nanny comes to aid.

Dog and Butterfly: Letters Home by John Philip Riffice

From John Philip Riffice, critically acclaimed author of Waiting For Pops, comes a poignant story of fate and the beguiling art of moving on. After his brother's untimely passing, Cam Freeland takes in his sister-in-law and four year-old nephew, Charlotte and Jimmy, just until they get on their feet and find a place of their own. But that day never comes. Cam enjoys having them in his life, and they enjoy being there. Cam raises Jimmy almost as though the boy were his son, forming a bond of love, respect, and friendship that will last beyond a lifetime. In doing so, young Jimmy slowly discovers that his uncle Cam is far nobler than he could have ever imagined, a stand-up guy in every respect. Except one. Cam has a skeleton in his closet, one which shames him terribly, and fate calls on Jimmy to investigate further. He does, and the secret he uncovers surprises him. And so does the next. And the next after that. But the biggest revelation of all lies in Jimmy's discovery that fate controls every aspect of his life and that there are no accidents and there are no coincidences, just as Uncle Cam had always told him.

Review: Before Watchmen: Minutemen/ Silk Spectre

Hi.  My name is James and I have been asked to do a guest post for Geeky Girl reviews.  If you want to read more of my stuff, my blog is at http://xcalibar25.wordpress.com/

When the Before Watchmen imprint was announced last year, the whole geek-o-sphere exploded.  While some welcomed a chance to see some of today's top talents in comics flesh out the history behind the ground-breaking mini-series, others were furious that DC Entertainment would try to cash in on the world that writer Alan Moore and artist Davie Gibbons made.  While a case could be made for each side of the debate, the writers and artists of these series have added to the mythos.  DC has released several hardcover collections of the various mini-series this month, one of them being Before Watchmen: Minutemen/Silk Spectre by Darwyn Cooke (CATWOMAN, RICHARD STARK'S PARKER: THE HUNTER) and Amanda Conner (POWER GIRL.)

The Minutemen story is told through the character of Hollis Mason, the original Nite-Owl, as he prepares to release a tell-all about his days as a crime fighter alongside a team of heroes, called the Minutemen.  The story spans from 1939, when the golden age of mystery men started to 1962 where a middle aged  Hollis is trying to get his memoir, "Under the Hood," published.  Through Hollis, we learn more about these other heroes. While characters like the Comedian and the original Silk Spectre had their back story touched on in the original mini-series, we learn more about the others; Hooded Justice, Mothman, Dollar Bill, Captain Metropolis and the Silhouette.  The storyline follows the fate of these characters through Nite-Owl's eyes, filling in the blanks in the original story but with some twists..  Darwyn Cooke both writes and des the art to this book, giving it a golden-age feel, mixed in with a modern comic sensibility.

The second collected story is Silk Spectre, written by Darwyn Cooke and Amanda Conner, with art by Amanda Conner.  The story, set in 1967, follows Laurie Jupiter, destined to be the second Silk Spectre.  Seeking to be free of her mother and her plan to have her daughter follow in her footsteps as a crime fighter, Laurie runs off to San Franciso with a boy named Greg and moves in  with a hippie couple.  But being a costume hero is in her blood and she finds herself drawn into the life.  She finds herself alone against a drug cartel using drugs and music to control.  Amanda Conner's art is well done, especially the psychedelic trip sequence in issue 2.

Overall, both stories are good, with Before Watchmen: Minutemen being the stronger of the two.  With a larger time frame to tell the story and multiple characters to flesh out, it adds more to the characters it features.  Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre, while good, does not really add much to the character of Laurie or her relationship with her mother.  Any new characters introduced are just throwaways, especially the love interest, as Laurie's career as the Silk Spectre is pretty much covered in the Watchmen series as is her relationships with Doctor Manhattan and Nite-Owl 2 later on.

I do recommend this collection to fan of both the original comic and/or the movie who would like to know more of the history of these characters and their world.  Anyone who does not worship Alan Moore as a god can see that these stories do not diminish the original work, but serves to honour it

Before Watchmen: Minutemen/ Silk Spectre retails for $29.99 US ($35.00 CDN) and is available now at bookstore, comic book shops and online.  THIS BOOK IS SUGGESTED FOR MATURE READERS

I recently received the Satin Seduction Floral Lace Robe and Charmuese Babydoll Set.  I had a choice between red or black and I picked red.

I put this on one warm night just because our central air wasn't working and it was so darn hot in the house.  This  sexy lingerie is very comfortable and it makes you feel sexy even if you are just planning on wearing this for sleep and warm summer nights.

I love Plus Size Lingerie Boutique because everything in this store is decently priced and all the products I have tried so far are good quality for the price and they ship very quickly . I am very impressed with this company and it's products.

If you are looking for plus size chemises that are good quality and aren't expensive I highly recommend Plus Size Lingerie Boutique.

Weight Watchers SmartOnes review

*The product(s) featured in this review were provided free of cost to me by the manufacturer or representing PR agency for the sole purpose of product testing. Opinions expressed are my own and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.*

I have recently tried 2 Weight Watchers SmartOnes products. The first that I have tried was the

English Muffin Sandwich (With egg white patty, bacon style turkey & cheese.)

I really didn't like this one. I thought it tasted bland and the bacon style turkey was hard . The English muffin was a little soggy even though I cooked it exactly like the instructions  said. I personally wouldn't buy it but I am not really a breakfast person anyways.

The next product I tried was the Ravioli Florentine

Now this is my kind of food! I loved the Ravioli Florentine. It is so very yummy. It doesn't look like much but it was fine for lunch. If you want to have that for dinner I think it is best to eat it with a nice light salad. I will be buying this one again in the near future.

I have tried a few of their product before and I liked most of them but I really am not liking the breakfast ones but I am not really a breakfast person anyways.

Check out Weight Watchers SmartOnes on Facebook .

My Love Eternal (The Dark Kiss Trilogy #1) by Liz Strange eBook review

A chance encounter has led her to Giovanni and a love to live forever. Yet Giovanni's past continues to threaten their future, keeping them on the run across the world and against time. The Desmarais are powerful enemies, carrying on a centuries old vendetta and they will not stop until they have their revenge. Can their love survive?

MY REVIEW

I started reading this the other day and I just couldn't stop reading. I read half in the afternoon and I was so hooked that I completely lost track of time and almost forgot to make dinner. Good thing I got a text message on my phone or else dinner would have been late on the night.

I love the story-line and I thought this book is very well done.I could really imagine all the characters and what was going on.

I really like that the author use Kingston, Ontario as the first location in this book because as you all know that is where I am currently living and I don't think I have ever read a book that takes place in this city. So that was very nice.

This is the first book in The Dark Kiss trilogy and I have to admit that I can't wait to read the other 2 books.

If you want to purchase this book you can do so at amazon.com, amazon.ca, Chapters Indego  and Book Depository.

I give this 5 out of 5
